Some of the Academy of Awesome recently convened at sea! This was not for nominations or voting, but instead to decide on some matters of business which were left hanging. These details regarding teh operation of the AoA are detailed below.
The first order of business was to decide which year would be next. While it seems sensible to proceed to 1981, tackling more recent years will be easier, as the films are more fresh in our memories. It was quickly decided that the next round of nominations will draw from 2010. We will not be judging 2011 right away because some films are not yet available for rental/streaming/etc.
With the same reasoning, we also decided to go backward through time, meaning the next nomination round will be for 2009. We'll stop going backward once we hit 1980 (or get bored and are finally able to tackle 2011).
Finally, it was decided that the time between the nomination round and the judging was too short. The Academy of Awesome needs time to watch (or re-watch) nominated films. So, there will be a week's time between nominations closing, and the judging deliberations. Overall, the process form nominations to naming a winner will take roughly 2 weeks.
